In Blwyddyn 4&5 we are ambitious, capable learners who strive to be the best we can be. Take a look at what we have been exploring so far this year:
Into the Past!
What a Wonderful World!
We are Enterprising, Creative Contributors. Who not only enjoy learning new skills but like to put our skills to the test and contribute to our community.
For our Easter Extravaganza financial literacy project, we made milkshakes while learning about budgeting, pricing, and profit. We researched the cost of all the ingredients and equipment needed, then calculated the total cost for each milkshake recipe. We compared prices from different shops to work out which ingredients were the cheapest and best value for money. This helped us understand how businesses manage costs and make financial decisions. We also discussed how pricing affects profit and customer choices, making the activity both fun and educational.
This Spring, our topic was ‘What a Wonderful World’. The children wanted to learn about Mountains and Volcanoes. We created an enquiry question to lead our learning and to refer back to: ‘How do Mountains and Volcanoes shape our Earth?’.
We explored active and famous Volcanoes across the world with a specific focus onto Pompeii. This led us on to our Writing process to write a set of instructions of ‘How to Escape a Volcanic Eruption’.
The children found an interest in Volcanic eruptions! We looked at how and why they erupt. Then, we put our knowledge and skills to the test by building our own Volcanos. We imitated the pressure build up to ‘explode’ our Volcanoes.
We are Healthy, Confident Individuals who enjoy exploring our local area and enjoy challenging ourselves.

Year 5’s walked up Moel Famau to reach a summit! They had the help from the North Wales Mountain Rescue Team who brung along their specially trained dogs too!
Adventures and Journeys

This Summer term, our topic is Adventures and Journeys. We collectively chose to learn about Migration which has led us to looking at The Great African Migration in Africa.
So far, the children have chosen an animal they wanted to learn about. They have researched their adaptations, how far they travel, dangers they face and where they migrate to and from.
We have also explored the African culture and looking at reasons why humans migrate too.
