Oaks Learning Journey 25/26

In Blwyddyn 5&6 we are ambitious and curious learners, we strive to be the best version of ourselves. Here is what we have been up to so far this year!

Into the Past!

In the autumn term, our learning journey taken us Into the Past, where we’ve been exploring the fascinating world of the Romans. The children have investigated how Roman life, inventions, and ideas have shaped the world we live in today. From studying Roman soldiers and daily life to discovering how the Empire expanded, pupils have been developing their curiosity and building a strong understanding of the past.

We took our curosity outdoors into forest school. We used natural materials to create their own tie-dye. This supported the children to explore how people in the past used natural materials.

Building on this, we then moved forward in time to explore World War, looking closely at how conflict, leadership, innovation, and global change connect across different periods of history. Learners

In the Spring Term our topic is What a Wonderful World .

This autumn, our topic was What a Wonderful World. We began by exploring natural disasters, where the children researched different events such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. They created fact files and compared how these disasters affect people and places around the world.

We then moved on to the Amazon Rainforest, learning about its climate, animals, and importance to our planet. The children were inspired to carry out a science investigation, building their own mini ecosystems in glass jars to see how living things rely on one another.

The Summer Term is SHOW TIME!

This year, our end of year production is called School of Pop!

Summer term is show term, and the children have been working exceptionally hard. Through our topic Adventures and Journeys, we collectively chose to perform School of Pop — a celebration of our journey through school and everything we’ve achieved together.

The children are growing in confidence every single day, pushing themselves, stepping outside their comfort zones, and quite literally throwing their fears out the window. Their energy, teamwork, and determination have been incredible to watch. They are becoming true performers — real superstars — and the progress they are making is something to be proud of.
